Hiring a professional graphic designer is recommended for important advertisements such as business cards, websites and event flyers. However, there are times where you need a quick photo fix or event announcement. Learning Photoshop basics is a MUST for all professional dancers.

Adrianne has over fifteen years experience working with Photoshop, hold a Masters Degree in Fine Arts, and have been utilizing these skills working as a part-time Graphic Designer for almost ten years now. She is  aware of the needs of a dancer and can teach you how Photoshop will prove to be an asset to your business.

Simple Alterations for a Fabulous Fit!

Every dance costume will need some alteration when it arrives at your door—whether it is off the rack or a designer import.  This class will demystify some standard alterations that almost every dancer can do for themselves with a little instruction and patience.  Basic hand sewing stitches will be covered. Participants are encouraged to bring their personal costumes that need some fitting TLC.   

  • Sewing closures (and how to select the correct type to use for each application)
  • Creating cleavage
  • Fitting tricks and tips for a professional fit
  • Say no to muffin tops!
  • Strap placement—picking your pick point
  • Creating cup extensions and tilting cups

As a professional costumer, Rukshana was fortunate to spend a number of years working with both Tutu Etoile and Ballet Arizona where she refined her dancewear construction skills and observed the designs of others.  Her theatrical costume designs have covered a wide variety of productions over the past 23 years.  Rukshana has a BS in Clothing and Textiles and a MFA in Scenography with a Costume Focus from Arizona State University.
